Moving Goods Without Harming Our Neighborhoods
The San Joaquin Valley sits at the heart of California’s goods movement system, with major highways, rail lines, warehouses, and ports running through our communities. While this system keeps shelves stocked across the state, it comes with a heavy cost: diesel trucks, trains, and cargo equipment release pollution that worsens asthma, heart disease, and other serious health problems across the region. Families living closest to transportation corridors and warehouses carry the heaviest burden.
At CCAC, our Freight and Goods Movement Pollution Program works to change that. We advocate for cleaner practices that cut emissions, such as zero-emission trucks, clean cargo equipment, and safer warehouse operations. We also support policies like the Low Carbon Fuel Standard, which helps California shift to cleaner fuels and technologies that reduce pollution in overburdened communities.
Our goal is simple: to protect the health of families across the Valley by reducing harmful freight-related pollution and ensuring the transition to clean air and clean energy prioritizes the communities most affected. Together with our partners, we’re working toward a future where moving goods no longer means sacrificing the health of our neighborhoods.
