Building Equity in California’s Clean Energy Shift

The Just Transition from Fossil Fuels Initiatives at CCAC are rooted in the belief that the move toward a sustainable, regenerative economy must be both fair and inclusive. A just transition ensures that as California shifts away from extractive industries like oil and gas, workers and communities are not left behind. Instead, it prioritizes the creation of good jobs, training opportunities, and social protections while centering the voices of those most impacted by climate change and pollution. CCAC’s role is to bring equity and health to the forefront of this transition, making sure that Valley residents benefit from the cleaner, safer future that comes with reducing dependence on fossil fuels.

Through initiatives such as the Energy Leadership Institute and Climate Action Solutions Access (CASA), CCAC equips local leaders and residents with the knowledge, tools, and advocacy skills needed to engage in climate and energy decision-making. These efforts not only help shape statewide policy but also empower communities to implement local solutions, from electrification and building decarbonization to renewable energy adoption. By lifting up community voices and linking them to policy change, CCAC’s Just Transition work ensures that the environmental, health, and economic benefits of a clean energy future are shared broadly and equitably across the San Joaquin Valley.

A Just Transition for All
